She is a single mother of Santiago, a 14-year-old boy with global developmental delay, which affects his speech and mobility, as well as microcephaly, blindness, and West syndrome. They live in the home of her brother, who has provided a room for her and her son. Her brother helps with the household expenses, but she has no income of her own.

She is a single mother with a 22-year-old son, Christian Camilo, who has mild intellectual disability, moderate intellectual disability, and psychomotor developmental delay. He has mobility and can speak but does not require supervision or support. They live in rented accommodation because their house in an informal settlement is falling apart, and she has no other source of income.

She is a single mother of Juan Alejandro, a 2-year-old, and has an older adolescent son with severe intellectual and cognitive delays. He does not speak and has mobility issues, requiring constant supervision. At the Foundation, we trained her in the production of handmade candles and are providing the necessary materials to help her start her own business.

She is a single mother of Cristina, a 22-year-old girl with Down syndrome who requires constant supervision. They live with her two other children, who help her financially, but she wants to have her own business. Due to the location of their home, we have not yet found the right business opportunity for her.

Luz Marina Ibargüen Mosquera

She is the mother of Mery Yulieth, a girl with high cognitive delay caused by a fever. Although she has mobility, she requires constant care. They are a large family, and Mery Yulieth is cared for by an aunt while her mother works at a company. Her dream is to have her own sewing workshop at home so she can be close to her daughter. We are working with the Foundation to make this business a reality.

Martha

She is the mother of Diana, a young woman who is a victim of violence, and we are supporting her with rehabilitation therapies to help her walk again and improve her hand mobility. In her home, she lives with two other children and Diana’s young daughter. She is working on various ventures, including surprise breakfasts and making bows and accessories for girls. We are collaborating with the Foundation to support her with materials and equipment to boost her business.

Margaux Caroline Rivero de Gómez

She is displaced with her family from Venezuela. They are a large family, and her 18-year-old daughter, Nicole, was injured by a stray bullet, which caused brain damage affecting her left-side mobility. Nicole loves to cook, and at the Foundation, we are in the process of setting up a kitchen for the home delivery of homemade lunches.

Luz Estella Jiménez

She suffers from fibromyalgia, which causes significant physical limitations. Despite this, she works at a company to support her household. She lives with her two daughters, one of whom, Leidy, has sequelae from meningitis, with both cognitive and physical disabilities. Leidy does not speak but can move around independently. The child is left alone until her other daughter returns from school. They have the idea of making precooked empanadas to sell in trays, and we are in the process of providing support. At the same time, we are assisting her with a lawyer to seek her disability pension.

She is the mother of Juan Gabriel, 31 years old, who is bedridden due to congenital macrocephaly. He can speak but requires constant care. Marina cannot work because she must care for her son and relies on support from her other children. They want to set up a fruit pulp business, and we are working to provide everything necessary for the setup of their venture.

This mother lives with her 26-year-old son Mateo, who has Down syndrome and bipolar affective disorder. She resides in her daughter’s house but has a partner who provides financial support. However, due to her son’s condition, she cannot go out much. Together with a professional in visual arts, we are starting a process to teach her an art form that can generate income and serve as therapy for both of them.

Rosalba Morales

She is the grandmother of the household, with many health issues. Her eldest daughter, María Isabel, is in a wheelchair. They live with her grandson Santiago, his wife, and two children. Santiago is a young entrepreneur who decided to sell empanadas door-to-door in their neighborhood. The Foundation supported him with the necessary equipment and supplies for making the empanadas, and we are currently working on defining a name and taking the business to the next level.

Luz Stella Ríos

Her husband had a motorcycle accident that left him affected both in his mobility and neurological functions. She received support to set up a sales stand at the Mirador de Altagracia. We bought a cart for making and selling arepas, provided the materials, and a mother from the Foundation gave her training to learn how to make them, allowing her to generate income for her household, as her husband was not insured and does not have a disability pension.
